Hawaii, May 18-26, 2015 Part 6 - Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
This national park includes large parts of Mauna Loa and Kilauea, as well as other smaller volcanoes. (It doesn't include Mauna Kea, farther north on the island. Mauna Kea, 119 feet taller than Mauna Loa, is the tallest mountain in the world if measured from the sea floor.) There was no flowing lava (at least, not anywhere we were allowed to go), but there was plenty of other evidence of ongoing volcanic activity.
